Test X-Plane 12.1.0

Upgraded X-Plane to 12.1.0-beta-2 over the weekend and flew around Yosemite for a while. Found it to be fundamentally stable, with no bugs appearing, so I’m quite satisfied.

The startup screen has changed to a KLM Boeing 737, and the startup time seems a bit longer.

Check the version info

Opened the settings screen; it doesn’t feel like much has changed. Turned on RCAS to see how it works. Also selected the new HUD.

The new HUD certainly displays much more data than before. Its usability has improved, so I’ll probably be using the HUD more often in the future.

The new version has put a lot of effort into improving cloud rendering. From a user’s perspective, the realism is slightly better. Also, the light isn’t as dazzling as before, and the look of the fuselage is closer to the real impression.

RCAS definitely provides some sharpening effects. The scenery is no longer blurry; the clarity is enhanced, making sightseeing flights more enjoyable.

Initially, I was a bit hesitant to install 12.1.0, worried that there might be too many bugs and instability. However, after flying for a while, I found that worry unfounded. Although it’s a beta version, my experience has been very satisfactory.
