A Glimpse of Hakodate Airport
Due to the pandemic, I haven’t been able to travel for a long time, let alone have the opportunity to photograph airports in various places.
Fortunately, having recently completed three doses of the vaccine, and with the local government lifting various travel restrictions after mid-April, I can finally get out and about.
Today, I’ll start with a glimpse of Hakodate Airport. Also, the airport charts are here.

Following the usual routine, I started by checking out the environment from the observation deck on the 3rd floor of the terminal.

Hakodate Airport is only about 10km from the city center, offering a very clear view of the city and Mount Hakodate from here.

The Tower is within close reach

It’s not easy to photograph aircraft from the observation deck, as there are only 4 small photography holes,
When there are many people, you can only take photos through the glass.
In about 30 minutes, there were a total of 2 Departure flights and 2 Arrival flights. The 4 aircraft were of different types, so it wasn’t monotonous at all.

ANA Boeing 737-800. You can see the sea right outside the airport.

By the way, there is a famous photo hanging in the observation facility. Most aviation enthusiasts should probably know about this,
On September 6, 1976, Soviet Air Defence Forces pilot Viktor Belenko defected flying a MiG-25 fighter jet, landing right here at Hakodate Airport.

It was time for boarding, so I took a few casual snaps with my iPhone from inside the airport and the Jet Bridge.

Looking at the airport buildings and aviation facilities from inside the aircraft, the Tower and various antennas,
Gate 5, the coordinates here are N41°46.5′, E140°49.0′
The ANA Airbus A321 at Gate 4 is about to push back,
At Gate 3, I saw an ATR 42-600 from Hokkaido Air System,
Unfortunately, the front section of the fuselage was blocked by a fuel truck, a pity.
Also, looking closely at the coordinates of Gate 3, N41°46.5′, E140°48.9′, they are the same as Gate 4.

Snapped a shot of the ILS antenna before taking off from RWY12. Goodbye, Hakodate Airport.
By the way, the Departure procedure should be HAKODATE SOUTH SEVEN DEPARTURE.
