Posting Old Photos Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic Part 4: Mustang Light Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I tried not to go out. Since I was bored, I spent my time at home restoring old photos. Here are a few photos of the German Air Force’s OV-10-338-8 Bronco from the 2018 Air Tattoo.
Borrowing an introduction from Baidu Baike
The OV-10 Light Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft, nicknamed "Bronco," was developed by North American Rockwell. It is primarily equipped with the U.S. Air Force and Marine Corps and is used for airborne forward air control, armed reconnaissance, close air support, helicopter escort, as well as radiation reconnaissance, tactical aerial observation, artillery and naval gunfire spotting, tactical air operations air control, and low-level aerial photography. The aircraft has a very unique appearance. The front fuselage features a tandem two-seat dual-control cockpit composed of large glass panels, extending down to the waist and knee level, providing an extremely wide field of view. The cockpit is equipped with protective armor and ejection seats, greatly improving battlefield survivability. The center of the main wing is the main fuselage; the rear of the fuselage features a 2.1 cubic meter universal cargo bay, which can carry 1451 kg of military supplies, or 5 paratroopers, or 2 stretchers and 1 medic. The tail section is the most peculiar, utilizing a twin-boom tail layout.
