Before and After Landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Runway 36R
A business trip to the US, landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. As always, sitting by the window, taking some photos for the record.
Checked the flight route on the Real Flight Plan Database website mentioned before. The route is:
ADK DCT 5100N/17000W DCT 5200N/16000W DCT 5300N/15000W DCT 5200N/14000W DCT NUDGE DCT PETPA DCT ITGAV DCT TOU DCT JAWBN DCT SEA DCT MLD DCT DBL DCT TBE DCT BGD UKW9/1312
So I plotted it on SkyVector.
The actual route matches the flight plan almost perfectly.

The arrival procedure should be the BOWIE FIVE arrival. From BGD direct to UKW.
The map below shows that BOWIE is to the northwest of the airport.

Since we are landing on Runway 36R, after passing west of the airport, the aircraft needs to fly south for a while.
Approaching the north side of the airport, heading south, Grapevine Lake is visible.

Then slowly the full view of the airport comes into sight.

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (ICAO: KDFW) is a civil airport located in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, USA. It is the largest and busiest airport in Texas. The airport is a base and hub for American Airlines, the largest airline in the US, with its headquarters located nearby.
In 2016, Dallas/Fort Worth Airport reached 684,779 aircraft movements, ranking fourth in the world. In 2017, DFW’s passenger volume reached 67,092,224, ranking it 11th among the world’s 20 busiest airports.
In terms of land area, Dallas/Fort Worth Airport is the second largest in the US (after Denver International Airport) and the fourth largest in the world, covering 18,076 acres (7,315 hectares), larger than the entire island of Manhattan.
It is also Texas’s second busiest international hub, carrying tens of thousands of passengers daily to 57 international destinations (the first being Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport). In 2006, based on a survey, the airport was awarded the title of “Best Cargo Airport”.
The aircraft continues south.
Not long after passing the Village Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant, it starts a left Turn.
Below is The Parks Mall at Arlington.
After flying east for a while, it starts a Turn to the north.
Arlington Municipal Airport (KGKY), a general aviation airport, is visible below.
We should be near KICKA at this point.
Next comes the approach and landing.
This procedure is relatively simple.
During the landing, the largest landmark visible is here, near TUTOO.
AT&T Stadium - home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys,
and Globe Life Park - home of the Texas Rangers.
Next, a huge golf course, Riverside Golf Club, comes into view.
Facilities near the airport.
Intersection of Highway 183 and Highway 360.
Another golf course, Bear Creek Golf Club.
Then the aircraft lands smoothly on Runway 36R.

This is truly American Airlines’ home turf.
