Spotting Planes at Haneda during Golden Week

Typically, there is a holiday of about one week spanning from the end of April to early May. If there are no special travel plans, I usually spend about 2 or 3 days spotting planes nearby.

Below are a few photos of aircraft with special liveries that I recently captured.

This is a JAL (Japan Airlines) special livery commemorating the FIFA World Cup to be held in Russia next month. Themed “SAMURAI BLUE 2018,” it features designs of Japanese national football team members. The aircraft type is Boeing 777-200, registration JA8979. SAMURAI BLUE 応援ジェット 1号機

This aircraft, registration VN-A897, was freshly delivered from the factory in April and is a gleaming, brand-new plane. It is also the world's first A350 in SkyTeam livery, making it quite significant.

China Eastern’s “Toy Story” livery, According to official sources, on April 28, China Eastern officially released its “Disney·Pixar Toy Story” themed aircraft. This A330-300, registration B-5976, came to Haneda immediately after entering service. It really gave us a lot of face!

Singapore Airlines A350-900, registration 9V-SMF. This aircraft is the 10,000th aircraft produced by Airbus, so the rear fuselage features the text “10000TH AIRBUS AIRCRAFT”. Airbus celebrates the delivery of its 10,000th aircraft

This is the Japanese Government Aircraft, a Boeing 747-400. It is a dedicated aircraft for state leaders to visit abroad, commonly known as “Air Force One,” and there are two of them. The registration of the one below is 20-1101. By the way, these two Boeing 747s will be retired soon, to be replaced by two new Boeing 777s. So, opportunities to see them are becoming fewer and fewer.

I have photographed Cathay Pacific’s “Spirit of Hong Kong” livery before, but the lighting this time was relatively perfect, so I’m posting it here for an introduction. The aircraft registration is B-KPB, and it is a Boeing 777-300ER. 国泰航空最新「香港精神号」客机揭幕 全球各地宣扬香港精神

This All Nippon Airways (ANA) Airbus A320, registration JA8997, doesn’t have a very eye-catching livery, but a closer look reveals text commemorating the 2020 Olympics on the upper fuselage. So I’m including it here as well.

Finally, here is Air Canada’s new livery. The main feature is the “black eye” markings around the cockpit area.

This aircraft, registration C-FIUR, is a Boeing 777-300ER that entered service in 2007.

As it got dark, just before heading home, I took a landscape photo for the memory—the burning clouds at Haneda Airport.
