Data on the D2 Charlie that frequently needs updating includes maps, the aviation navigation database, Apps, Widgets, and Firmware.

For example, for the watch’s own operating system, Seeing that the US Garmin official website has released D2 Charlie software version 3.20, which fixed some bugs and added some new features, you might need to update the Firmware. (It seems the Chinese version hasn’t been released yet.)

Updating the watch’s own software requires the WebUpdater application on your PC. The UI looks like this: As long as the program detects a new update, it will be displayed on the screen.

Updating maps requires another PC application, Garmin Express. After downloading, installing, and setting it up, connect the watch to the PC using the dedicated USB cable. Garmin Express will then find the device and display it.

Clicking on the D2 Charlie allows you to view specific map data. Here, the surface maps for the Americas, Europe, and the Pacific region can be updated, while the Asia-Pacific surface maps and Taiwan city navigation maps are already up to date.

So, click the blue Install button, and a few minutes later, all maps are updated.

Updating the aviation navigation database uses fly.garmin.com. This was introduced in detail in the Garmin D2™Charlie Titanium Aviation Watch Initial Setup, so I will skip writing about it here.

Watch faces, Apps, and Widgets are updated using the Garmin Connect mobile app, or by using the concect.garmin.com website, simply select your favorites from the connect IQ Store. The usage is similar to the iOS or Android App Stores, so I won’t go into detail here.
