First Impressions of X-Plane 10.50 beta1
Seeing the announcement “X-Plane 10.50 Beta 1 Is Here (And Only Slightly On Fire)” on the official blog, I immediately upgraded. Regarding this version, “A look at the new features of X-Plane 10.50” was introduced previously.
Upon launching, I saw the 10.50b1 identifier as expected,
and the loading screen has changed slightly.
My impression is that there are still quite a few bugs. For example, the sky above RJTT airport was empty, with nothing but the Runway; X-Plane would crash abnormally after enabling the high-altitude wind function; The AUTO GEN performance is mediocre; a trip to Las Vegas looked like a vast grassland with countless yurts on it; For the two built-in aircraft, King-Air and Baron, only the left engine was functional, etc. It looks like we’ll have to wait a version or two for the new features to become stable and usable.
However, the ATC section is really much better!
The dumb “you are off course!” message didn’t appear even once. The handover between controllers was smooth, so I can use IFR to play X-Plane more often in the future.
Below are two screenshots showing the series of processes from Center scheduling at cruise Altitude, to Tower handover, to Landing. The system handled them very well.
The ATC bug that users have complained about for years has finally been fixed.
Also, mouse wheel support is a really thoughtful improvement. Operations that previously required dragging the mouse around can now be controlled simply with the center wheel, and the movement is very smooth. This feature is definitely a highlight.
After testing for 2 or 3 hours, I saw the official blog update again, hehe. Some Bugs in X-Plane 10.50 beta 1 It doesn’t matter; it’s extremely normal for new versions to have bugs. I will wait very patiently for various updates.
